The Power House Museum and Questacon
- Dr Arthur Farnworth of the CSIRO added a special resin to wool fibres in 1957 to change their chemical structure to create Permanent Crease Trousers.
- The Baby Safety Capsule was invented in 1983. Now, the Australian Standard for infant and child restraints is one of the most stringent in the world, demanding an extremely rigorous degree of protection.
- In Victoria, the first prototype of a solar water heating system was developed by the CSIRO in 1953
- The Wiltshire Staysharp Knife - a knife sheath which sharpens the knife each time it was withdrawn - was invented in 1965.
- Longtime household glove maker, Ansell, introduced disposable latex gloves for use in surgery in 1964.
- The first full-size rotary hoe cultivator was developed in 1922 and used energy to turn the soil directly, rather than dragging a plough behind a tractor.
